The Art of the Hot Towel Shave

The Art of the Hot Towel Shave

There is a reason men have been paying for shaves in barbershops for two thousand years. Done properly, a straight razor shave is the closest, smoothest, and most meditative grooming experience a man can have.

Our seven-step ritual begins with a pre-shave oil and a steaming towel pressed to the face for two full minutes. This softens the beard at the root and opens the pores — a step most home shaves skip entirely.

We then build a warm lather with a badger brush and shave with the grain, then across, then against. Between each pass, another hot towel. The straight razor itself is honed daily and stropped before every client.

The finish is an ice-cold towel to close the pores, an alum block to seal any micro-cuts, and a custom-blended aftershave balm with sandalwood and cedar.

Walk in any evening before midnight in season. Bring a friend. Leave a different man.
